The New Democratic Party, fresh on the heels of an historic electoral victory, has just concluded its federal convention in Vancouver. Seven Fightback supporters from four different cities were there to intervene in the convention which, even before it began, was set to be a showcase for the balance of forces between the left and right wings of the party.

The top brass had apparently calculated that the membership would be so wowed by the recent electoral success, that they would faithfully vote for any proposal that came from on high. This idea was the basis for a proposal from the top of the party to change the statement of principals in the federal constitution to remove all mentions of socialism or social ownership, and replace it with watered-down and meaningless generalities.

Are you sure that the proposal to remove the "socialism" label from the NDP didn't come from the "Ross Wolfist" wing (v. "reformist" Right Wing) of the party that doesn't believe that "socialist" parties have any "socialist" elements to them?

Perhaps the ENTIRE NDP is a right wing "reformist" party, eh, Wolfmeister?

Somebody on the Left needs to step forward and take-on this right-wing reformist conspiracy, eh, Wolfie?

The NDP 'victory' was gained mostly in Quebec at the expence of the Liberal Party and the Boc Quèbècois. In every Province they've held power they've been booted out and the same will go in my Province of Nova Scotia come the next provincial election!

SpeedyG: I'll let Ross speak for himself.

Kipper: Thank you for visiting. Hopefully you're correct.

Oh, his silence speaks VOLUMES.

Ross can deal with that issue. He wasn't online much lately.

The Canucks are Schamucks. John McCain would be considered a far-rightest conservative there, while a guy like Dennis Kucinich would be seen as a moderate, reasonable, actually pretty average liberal politician. It's really pretty sad that the Canadians are so fucking brain dead. They wouldn't know actual conservative principles if one bit them on the ass. I think we need to close our border with Canada as much as we do with Mexico.

Looks like Ross is playing "turtle" to mr. ducky's brown capping.
