I have off and on, for a few years visited a blog called Harry's Place. It is one of the most popular political blogs from the UK. Its politics can be termed B-52 left. They argue that the US/UK military interventions are progressive, and should be supported by the left. I have been involved in good debates there. They are under serious attack, and now is the time to put aside differences "por ahora."
This is one of the temporary homes of Harry's Place.
Why is this happening?
Harry's Place may be removed (or rather have it's DNS disabled) after a 'complaint' to the company that our domain name is registered with. We assume after threats were made on the weekend that this 'complaint' originates from Jenna Delich or her supporters. Though we have not yet seen the complaint submitted, we assume it runs along the lines that pointing out that Ms Delich linked to the website of a known neo-Nazi figure and former Ku Klux Klan leader is defamatory. This is extraordinary since Ms Delich has not denied that she circulated links to David Dukes website. There would be no point since the evidence is in the public domain. Nevertheless, a malicious complaint has been made to the company hosting our DNS.
1) First a supposed anti-fascist links to the world's biggest name in the "white power" movement.
2) Reports to the server company, a link to a racist site.
More info here and here.

Hmmm. the first link did not work...is it closed?
but the second link did work. This is wacked.
Maria: I purposely linked to the closed down site, to make the point.
Renegade Eye,
The post that you commented on over at The Exile has just been updated to take into account fresh information.
Jenna Denich did NOT link to a David Duke article, she linked to one written by a Joe Quinn which DD had reposted.
Frankly, although I am still supporting Harry's Place, it is now with gritted teeth because it looks as if their celebrated smear machine went into action and is now paying the price.
Well flagged.
Frankly, Harry's Place could say whatever the hell they want and still not be taken off line, we need to have a freedom of information on the internet, not silencing any voice out there.
I don't get it. What did "Harry's Place" do other than point out that this supposed anti-fascist was inadvertently getting in bed with David Duke.
She should thank him. What am I missing?
Ducky: I might be wrong, but This seems accurate.
The problem is that the political problem was dealt with, by going to HP's isp.
It's too easy to get a website shut down in the UK.
Exile: Thank you for your analysis. It is reasonable.
I have no idea what UCU stands for, and who they are?
Daniel: Most of the time I don't understand what they are saying at HP. It is very cliquish, and UK politics insider. The B-52 left is less relevant each day. Still you are right.
Defend free speech? And yet you support Chavez who closes TV stations and Radio channels. His new decree,Law of Communications, allows him to close down any TV, radio, cable, internet and even cell phones at his discretion.
Last December the people voted against this very thing, so Chavez DECREES it.
So are you for or against free speech?
Appparently harry's place is up again. This is not the forst time we've seen websites taken down. ALisher Usmanov and his lawyers Schillings took Craig Murray and Blogggerheads down. They were back in days and the allegations that were the bone of contention were all over the net. Delich has seen the same blowback.. I say good!
Jungle Mom: I never heard you say anything against Alan Garcia, who shut down several stations.
RCTV is still on the air. They broke the law, and had their public bandwidth taken away.
No TV station in the world, can openly organize violence against a government, and stay on public bandwidth. RCTV didn't report the news, they made news.
Jams: Good they are back.
I think that it stands for the University and College Union, but I'm not sure.
Tonight I will post something about this whole affair in general, and why so many people found it hard to support HP. Lenin's Tomb, Neil Clark et al have all ignored the events.
That says a lot about the contempt that folk have for HP.
Exile: Last night I surfed blogs to see what they say about HP. I was surprised HP is hated by "Drink Soaked Trots." I thought they were friends.
Drinked Soaked hate me too.
That's your answer? Alan Garcia did it ,too?
thanks for your support :)
if you’ll indulge me a plug
my simple guide for UCU Activists and others - How To Avoid Re-posting from Neo-Nazi, Ku Klux Klan or White Power Web Sites.

it is free! pass it around
I agree that the defeat of the referendum was not due to the low level of the Venezuelan masses. The workers and poor want to go further than Chavez in the direction of genuine socialism.
Still, I find it troubling that your analysis of the defeat does not mention the aspects of the constitution that would extend executive power for Chavez. This was a key reason that millions stayed home.
It is correct for the Venezuelan people to distrust the consolidation of power, especially when viewed alongside the limiting of democracy within PSUV and the unions.
Of course, socialists should have campaigned for a "yes" vote on the constitution, but not without criticism and warnings.
Jungle Mom: Reread what I said. I'm not using the Alan Garcia did it too as my main argument. The main argument is RCTV broke the law, by taking sides in coup.
Modernity: Linking to Nazi sites, is the least of my worries.
Bryan: Thank you for visiting. Do you have a blog. I think Chavez and the PSUV were smug about the constitutional referendum. They won several elections in a row. They did a poor job explaining issues. In the US term limits were passed, because of Roosevelt being so popular. I think Chavez will have losses in November as well.
ren,
I didn't mean to suggest that, but I think a wider audience on the LEFT, might do well to educate themselves on this topic.
good luck :)
Ren,
I WAS THERE! They were ordered to not show that Chavez had sent the tanks into the streets shooting people, something he had pledges to never do. They were ordered to play a nonsensical tape of Chavez saying nothing was happening. They chose to split the screen and show Chavez lying as they showed leaders of the Revolucion shooting their own pueblo.
Real people died that day at the hands of his highness Hugo! Innocent people who wanted freedom of speech as you want for Harry but not for them.
Chavez has no room to talk of illegal support for coups. I WAS THERE when he attempted his own illegal coup, killed hundreds of innocent soldiers. I saw the bodies.
ModernityBlog: The left and right are like drunks. I identify with the sobriety of revolutionary socialism.
I don't run into that problem. If I did I'd deal with it.
JungleMom: I think it is a well kept secret what you are talking about. You don't the US press would'nt cover such an event?
What is a secret?
The failed coup of Chavez?
The RCTV split screen?
The new Telecommunications law?
Ren: "Drinked Soaked hate me too."
Don't they hate everything and everyone? I thought that was their shtick.
Seán: I thought Drink Soaked shared politics with Harry.
Interesting the founder of Harry's Place, spent most of his political life as a Stalinist.
Junglr Mom: I doubt if what you are saying could be kept a secret from the world.
I don't know what planet you live on. Everything I have said, was or is, in the msm. So what exactly are you speaking of as to "being hidden from the world"?
Jungle Mom: I don't know what to say, when you imply Chavez staged the coup gainst himself.
Stay tuned. I'm sure both of us will have something to say about the November midterm elections.
I was speaking of HIS coup when he tried to over throw Carlos Andres Perez- that makes him the coupster,
During the 11 de Abril fiasco, he sent tanks out into the streets to try and stop the people who were marching against him. Revolution leaders were out shooting , it is all documented. That is what led to his 'resignation'.
There are two different 'coups'. Chavez led the first and was imprisoned. I was there, soldiers died as he sent them into the residency where CAP was not even present, only the grand children!
11 de Abril is another event , but many died as well.
Carmona was way out of line and that is what led to Chavez' reinstatement as President.
JM: Chavez learned that a coup is not the proper way to change society.
OH! He learned! You are very adept at evading answering the real questions.
SO, Has Chavez also learned not to use tanks on his own people?Oh wait! He had the tanks out a few weeks ago when he nationalized the cement factory!
JM: Negotiations are finishing with CEMEX. Nothing military in the news.
negotiations? Under threat of machine gun holding soldiers????
It was all over the news..if you can read Spanish here's just one link with a few photos.
